My name is Jenna Magnusson and I am currently in my first year of post secondary education at the University of Regina. I am presently enrolled in the Pre-k to 5 Education program. I grew up here in Regina for most of my life with my mom and dad, along with my two younger sisters.
I have grown up with a passion to travel and learn all about different people and cultures around the world. I am very passionate about an organization known as Free The Children and Me to We. They have inspired me to take a trip to Tanzania, Africa and do volunteer work there recently. There, we helped build a school, played with children, learned all about the community and culture, and also made new relationships with the people. This trip opened my eyes to a whole different perspective on the world. I hope to some day empower my students through my lessons and just be a good role model for them as well! It also inspired me to go on with my journey to become a teacher because I saw the children and how excited they were about going to school and learning. When my group helped finish the flooring of a new school, the feeling was amazing, I knew that that classroom would be used for many, many years to come. I also volunteered at We Day, which is a youth rally that encourages youth go out and make a difference both locally and globally and it also celebrates the ones who already are making a difference. Seeing that many youth passionate about making the world a better place really made me want to be the one to help them get there.
I first decided to pursue my career as a elementary school teacher when I was in grade nine. Both of my parents are teachers, my mother is a high school Arts Ed. teacher, mainly music and choir, and my father is an elementary school principle. I have been in both of their classrooms multiple times and every time it is so exciting! I just knew that the classroom was where I was meant to be. I chose the Pre-k to 5 program because I love the younger kids. Although some still have great big attitudes they are always excited to learn and come to school, most days! I had field my field experience in a Kindergarten class room which reinforced my desire to teach the little ones!

My Educational Philosophy |
As a future teacher there are a few things that I believe in and will be applied in my classroom. Firstly, I believe that education is the root of everything, it makes most people the person they are today and without it, most would be lost. I believe that every child, no matter where they are in the world, deserves the right to an education. I also believe that in order for every child to succeed in school their individual needs should be met, always.

My Goals |
I have certain goals I hope to achieve when I have my own classroom:
- To inspire my students to want to learn and enjoy learning while being a positive role model. - To have an inclusive classroom. - To meet the diverse needs of my students. - To make the learning environment a positive and safe space for every student. |
